Welcome to the world of beautiful baby dolls! My name is Jan Fletcher and I am the sole artist behind Adorababes Hand Crafted Reborn Baby Dolls. Learning to become a reborn artist for me started in March 2003 as a hobby but has now become over the years a major part of my life. I have made some wonderful friends from other reborn artists and customers who have purchased these wonderful dolls.
If you are a new visitor and not familiar with what a reborn doll is, sometimes referred to as fake baby or newborn baby let me explain. Reborn dolls or fake babies are becoming very popular and highly collectable as each one is hand crafted and individual. As a reborn artist I get to take plain non painted vinyl doll parts and using heat set paints and many many hours of work, I bring the vinyl pieces into the most amazing, lifelike, realistic newborn babies I have ever seen. I have learned to paint realistic veins, broken capillaries, newborn skin markings, milk spots and even stork bites on the vinyl pieces. I give the babies fingernail and toenail manicures that a real baby would have. I then take micro rooting needles and micro root baby-soft mohair into the scalp, one hair at a time in the direction that it would grow naturally. As you can imagine this process is painstakingly labour intensive but the effect is so ultra real it is breathtaking.
The joy this art form has given me is unexplainable. With each baby I have really created a unique one of a kind piece of art, a collectible that can be passed down from generation to generation. It gives me a feeling of pride, accomplishment, excitement, and uniqueness.
